We’re well into 2015, and it’s finally time for me to kick things off back in Drama Land with my “must-watch” Korean drama list for 2015. But, I want to know what you’re watching (and why), too!
My Must-Watch Korean Dramas: 2015 Edition
1. Healer
“Kim Moon-Ho (Yoo Ji-Tae) is a popular reporter at major broadcasting company. One day, he learns the truth about a case that took place in the past. He intentionally approaches people who are related to the case and helps them. While doing so, he agonizes over the truth.
Meanwhile, with the help of Kim Moon-Ho, internet reporter Chae Young-Shin (Park Min-Young) and Seo Jung-Hoo (Ji Chang-Wook), known as “Healer,” grow into real reporters.”
(The Most Action-packed Korean Drama of The Year!)
2. Kill Me, Heal Me
This is a love story between the son of a wealthy family who has seven different personalities and a first year female resident who becomes a doctor for him in secret.
(The “Mania” Korean Drama of The Year!)
3. Heard It Through the Grapevine
A stellar cast staring idol-turned-actor Lee Joon and the perfect production team from Secret Love Affair tackle teen pregnancy in South Korea with all the darkness and drama you’ll ever need this year!
(The Darkest Korean Drama of The Year!)
4. Angry Mom
An angry mom played by 37 year old Kim Hee Sun goes back to school to protect her daughter from bullies! Sounds great to me, and this cast is perfect.
Starring so many of my old favorites like Ji Hyun Woo and must-see new faces like Ji Soo, so far this is the best KDrama of the year!
(My Favorite Korean Drama of The Year!)
5. Let’s Eat 2
Make sure you check out the first Let’s Eat, but don’t worry. You can jump right into this KDrama filled with romance, mystery, and plenty of food porn.
Oh, and Yoon Doo Joon does a great job as food blogger and insurance salesman Goo Dae Young once again, so get ready to be charmed!
(The Best Bromantic Comedy of The Year!)
6. Who Are You– School 2015
The School series you probably remember most from 2013 is still going strong, and I can’t wait to see them take on bullying in South Korea (once again)– with more cute school boys in uniform, too.
7. Orange Marmalade
Orange Marmalade, originally a Korean webtoon, takes the spot formerly occupied by Producer in a shocking turn of events! Is more all-star casting wasted in an all-bad Korean drama? Only time will tell, so don’t give up on Producer yet!
For now, it’s time for some teen romance (and vampires) with hot rookie actor Yeo Jin Goo. This KDrama promises all the angst and adorable moments that come with a typical high school romance, which KDrama can’t get enough of this year!
8. Producer
After changing directors after episode two, Producer has picked up and made it back on the list! Are you watching this quirky slice of life romantic comedy, too?
9. Masked Prosecutor
I love Kim Sun Ah, The Goddess of Korean dramas! I also love her co-star, Joo Sang Wook from Ten, and I can’t wait to see them take on the bad guys while falling in love!
10. The Scholar Who Walks The Night
Dramabeans writes:“The manhwa adaptation is a fusion fantasy drama set in Joseon, and is the love story between a vampire scholar and a young woman who dresses as a man to sell books.
Lee Jun-ki (Joseon Gunman) will play the eternally beautiful (how appropriate) vampire scholar shrouded in mystery, while Lee Yubi (Pinocchio) has been cast as the crossdressing heroine…
Bringing the action is Lee Soo-hyuk (Valid Love), a vampire described as evil incarnate. He bewitches people with his perfect beauty (really, like literally? Because that’s both apt and hilarious), and holds the human world in the palm of his hand. He’ll be the hero’s greatest foe, and his character promises heart-stopping thrills.”
I’m excited to see Lee Jun Ki for the first time and Lee Soo Hyuk again!
11. I Remember You
Dramabeans writes:
“The drama is about a super-sharp crime profiler (Seo In-gook) who joins a task force alongside with another detective (Jang Nara) who happens to be stalking him, for reasons yet unknown.
She reportedly joins the team with ulterior motives, so I’m betting the stalking goes hand in hand with her secret agenda. She’ll stalk, they’ll bicker, they’ll fall in love. Hopefully with a lot of twists (and laughs) along the way.”
Uhm, all I heard was Seo In Gook. Need I say more? He’s good at everything… *sigh* Either way, it’s nice to have both of my High School King of Savvy boys back in Drama Land!
My Korean Drama Shelf
- Unkind Women — This is long but should be good. I love Lee Ha Na and Song Jae Rim!
- Hogu’s Love — I want to see how this drama tackles teen pregnancy, and Hogu reminds me of my boyfriend, Young!
- Ex-Girlfriend Club — It’s ending serious episodes early, so I might not watch it after all!
So, what’s on your must-watch list, or just current watch list? And– more importantly, why should I add it to mine?
By now you know that I don’t watch KDramas for idols or eye candy, so let me know the good KDramas that I’m missing out on– if there are any.
And, be sure to find out where to watch all these KDramas and more! Finally, you can also check out my past Korean drama must-watch lists if you haven’t yet:
Read the comment about KMHM, true! I had a lot of lol moments with the teenage girl character. I’m not in the position to question the possibilities of the mental disorder since these days anything can happen when it comes to health/mental issues. Hope you could watch, I’d like to hear you feedback about that one.
I’m always in the mood for romcom.. and for that, I can say Healer won’t be at the very least of the romcom genre list ;) Let me hear your comment about that one too. Thanks!
And yes, there are many many many KDrama addicts out there! Like you and me. So, thanks for stopping by and always share your KDrama addiction here with all of us! So nice meeting you, too. :D
for example:
1) hyde jekyll and me
2) orange marmalade
3) the family is coming
4) the Chaebol’s daughter
5) who are you school 2015
6) the ex-girlfriend club
7) for busan
8) pure love
9) scholars who walk the night
10) divorce lawyer in love
11) blood
12) spy
thanks :)
I will check out Orange Maramalade! I’m excited to see Yeo Jin Goo act– so much hype about him but I’m not on that bandwagon yet. I will also check out Chaebol’s Daughter. I love the story line but wonder who will pick up the leads? It seems like Orange Marmalade and Scholar Who Walks the Night will be doing the vampire thing, although in different time periods. *Sigh* I have been reading about vampires way before Twilight (Anne Rice, Vlad, Laurel K Hamilton, Charlaine Harris) , so I take my vampire literature and cinema seriously. Hope they get it right! I loved Thirst, so I know Koreans can pull off the whole vampire thing. Lee Jun Ki suits the vamp role, but it’ll be my first time seeing him act!!!
Also, Spy and Divorce Lawyer in Love? Yawn. Same old story and not much of a must-watch cast (for me). The Family Is Coming is ruled out for the same reasons. I think Song Ji Hyo is a horrible actress, and the drama she is in– The Ex GF Club seems absolutely ridiculous, kind of like Emergency Couple. She’s always going back to her ex-es! I’m just not into old flames being reborn again dramas, I guess.
Pure Love is way too long. *Screams in shock at 125 episodes*
*Whew* Thanks for the recommendations! I’d love to know which dramas you are enjoying so far. I am in love with Angry Mom!!!
Wierd cinematography, typical makjang chaebol plot. The beginning also takes place in America, so we get bad English along with bad American stereotypes (crazy do-good Americans even helping poor Africans, abusive white man–see Heirs, police, etc.).
Funny enough, I love all the leads so will wait and see if they can pull it off.
Anyway, enjoy those dramas. I will be checking out a few of them as well.
Both were BRILLIANT!! AND gave me the FEELS!! loved the theme songs, plot twists, comedy and romance in both – hence, they are my current fav dramas!
I’m in love with this drama, and the mom is so cute lol
And damn Ji Soo is a rookie right? I liked him so much in this drama. ( no homo ) haha
Can’t wait for producer and more eps of Who are you :))
I don’t know about you but I’m getting tired of Kdramas. Something about it is not evolving. I’m still waiting, watching out for a new Summer drama though. *ends spazz/rant* lol
Angry Mom did make me cry! It’s the first drama that’s really pulled me in this year. I think KDramas are best when they focus on family, NOT chaebols with eccentric personalities. So, I hope for more dramas like Angry Mom–FEELS. Or even a good SIMPLE rom com… still waiting. *Yawn* haha Maybe I’m just too old for the rich guy fantasy, although done right it could go oh-so well… haha We need more rich, successful women dramas, though– not that I think about it!
A good summer drama might be Hogu’s Love. I am about to check it out! Hopefully it’s binge watchable.

These lists are organized by genre. :)
Healer is good! I also recommend Angry Mom. My personal favorite finished KDrama for 2015 so far!
I’d recommend you to do so. He’s perfect in every drama he’s been in. I first see him in My Girl as 2nd lead to Lee Dong Wook. (Among the best rom-com ever), He’s done marvelous leading a drama like in Iljimae, Two weeks, Joseon Gunmen, Time Between Dog and Wolf and Hero. (I haven’t seen Arang and Majistrate since I dont like ghost stories)
